The island of Curieuse in the Seychelles seems like something out of a storybook. Known first as Ile Rouge, the Red Isle, with a history as a leper colony and one of only 2 islands where the Coco de Mer palm natively grows, it now acts as a home and preserve for more than 300 Giant Aldabra Tortoises.
Roaming freely over the island these giants give no thought to the rangers that watch over them, the scientists that research them, or the tourists that come to visit them.
Knocking down doors, biting sleeping researchers, and in the case of one well known individual fighting your own reflection in a soon to be shattered oven door, they go where they want, when they want, and do what they want.
And when you weigh 250kg and live for more than 200 years…well who is going to stop you?
